Kanergy leg sleeves are a fully elasticated leg sleeve that has been anatomically designed to your right or left leg. Their purpose is to increase blood flow, increase lymphatic flow and reduce the build up of waste products, such as lactic acid during exercise.

When would you use leg sleeves?

During and after exercise to assist lymphatic flow and circulation. Kanergy leg sleeves have been designed to assist venus blood flow back to the heart using gradient compression.

Following a calf or shin injury to promote healing and disperse swelling. Maintaining compression of a strained calf muscle or from injuries such as shin splits will aid the healing process and reduce inflammation.

When sleeping to reduce the risk of cramp, disperse waste products, reducing the delayed onset of muscle soreness and assist the healing process.

During exercise, moisture management technology allows perspiration to be wicked away from the skin surface. The breathable fabric allows for ventilation, evaporating any moisture keeping you cool in warmer conditions.

What is the advantage to wearing leg sleeves over compression socks?

Running socks need to be replaced regularly, because when the bobble they no longer wick sweat away from the skin surface; this is one of the causes of blisters. Using a leg sleeve means you can replace your running socks regularly for a considerably cheaper price.

What sizes do they come in?

They have been designed to be a universal fit for both males and females. Simply measure the circumference around the calf muscle and choose the corresponding size. Pick from XS, S, M, L and XL.

Recovery

Although there is little supporting evidence for the recovery benefits of compression sleeves, or compression garments, they do support the muscle post-exercise and help to maintain warmth. This will increase blood blow, meaning more nutrients reach the muscle. If you eat plenty of potassium and sodium and still prone to night cramp following long runs, then a leg sleeve should help to reduce the risk of muscle cramps.

Conclusion

I mostly use the Kanergy leg sleeves as part of my recovery, rather than the running kit I grab for my long runs. When I have used them for runs, I have found them to remain in place and I quickly forget I have them on.
